Melissa asked for this AFTER she became Commissioner...something I am sure she should have known.

Keep in mind she ran for a par-time job (Commission seat) and after she became commissioner she gave herself a Raise like never seen before in this great City along with , Ariel Fernandez and Kirk Menendez.

They are a disgrace for this City, very shameful all that is going on the Commission at present.

Ever since this NEW Commission started the Meetings have been a the likes of a zoo.

All they, the 3 Commissioners know how to do in just about all meeting is bash the Mayor.

Nothing positive for the City gets done, Only positives for the 3 commissioners

Thank you Mayour Vince Lago and Vice Mayor Anderson for all the good you do for the CIty and mostly for US, the residents. We need more like you 2.

God bless

Seriously - is this another attempt of our Mayor to bring down the new commissioners? It’s really pathetic. Rather than working together, it’s quickly becoming so obvious. We’re getting so sick of it!

Apologies. It was buried. Once again, insults from folks who are too timid to share their names

not a fool then, I guess. Here's my whataboutism: you guys have no issues with Lago's real estate business, or his brother's?

Dear Jane,

To the contrary. If it is revealed that the Mayor has engaged in unethical, or illegal business dealings, let his day of reckoning come. Please don't be lazy. Come up with something other than "patronizing and misogynistic." Those of us that are interested in the facts can see right through this tired old horse of a tactic.

Castro did ask for the opinion. She should have asked before she ran. She should have also suspended her business operations in the city until the opinion came out. What will she do now that she has been party to multiple conflicts of interest since April?

Omitted from this article is the fact that Melissa Castro herself asked for this ethics opinion. Not as stunning as it's made out to be, therefore. Also, unbearably patronizing and misogynistic. But, what else is new?

Dear Jane,

She would have been a fool not to. Sadly, for her, she did it after her election and she now faces a conundrum, which is troublesome, because,"...Melissa may already have a few ethical fires to put out. Conflict is conflict, it isn’t just birthed into existence once an authority identifies it. If pulling permits in the Gables is a conflict today, it was a conflict yesterday and on all the days going back to Melissa’s victory in the April election." This is highly problematic.

Go ahead and throw out the patronizing and misogynistic red herrings all you wish, but they're not swimming in this water.

Either you don't know how to read or you just went straight to the comments section. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say it's the latter. So I'll help you out... Here is the exact sentence from the post above that mentions Ms. Castro was the requesting party: "Maybe she is even telling the truth about not having seen the Sept 28 opinion until the Herald brought it up, although that would be rather odd given that she says she was the requesting party. " Hope that helps!

Left out of this article is that Castro asked for an ethics review several months before this one and was given an opinion that her business working with the City was acceptable under certain circumstances that were described.

The question that this article should be asking is, why did the conclusion of the review change, who influenced it in the interim.

Why has this not been made public? Where is this information?

ask mr. banos.

Right, thx

Either there was an earlier opinion rendered or there wasn't.

Who is reporting it is irrelevant.

Great example of why we, residents, cannot trust Gables Insider. Clear and present ethics violations by Melissa went un reported. Just because Melissa shares the same progressive political views of Gables Insiders. We, residents, we need facts and transparency. Newsletters ( eg Gables Insider ) protecting their cronies ( eg Melissa, Ariel ), we can live without.

The same can surely be said about Political Cortadito. Where is Ladra at a time like this? These are typically the juicy stories she loves to write about, is it now? Ironic how she and Baños stay so oddly quiet when the news has nothing to do with the Mayor. Seems like we can live without her, too.

Not when you talk to me like that and without identifying yourself. Why would i bother?

but it was patronizing and misogynistic and not nearly as clever as the writer fancies. You make the point in 3 sentences which are easier to read.

Look everyone! We have a political justice warrior at work! Please Jane, tell us what parts are misogynistic and patronizing. I must have missed it. You're the pro here, aren't you? Come on... Give us a hint. This time, be very very specific. Show your work.

Has Vince asked for a review/opinion regarding any of his potential conflicts??

Couldn't Castro just do what our recent president did? Let a relative "take control". That seemed to satisfy the vast majority of Coral Gables electorate.

Or recuse herself on any conflicted item? After providing vocal support.

That seems to be the accepted workaround on this commission.

BTW

I have yet to see your review of the ooze seeping from other members of this commission.

What review? Oh, you mean a review of Ariel and Kirk? You must know something about these two that we don't. Please, enlighten us further! You seem to have all the solutions, so let's dive deeper. I'm pretty sure that allowing a relative of Castro take control of M.E.D. and still taking a profit from her company would STILL be a violation of county ethics codes. And on the note of recusing oneself... Hasn't Mayor Lago done that every time a possible conflict of interest has come up? Not only that, he is fully transparent about his businesses in Coral Gables, none of which are businesses that have direct transactions with the City of Coral Gables. Unlike Castro whose business does, well, business DIRECTLY with the City. Do you see how silly your comment is now? Gosh people... THINK before you come up with these outlandish comments.

Really, Lago s business has nothing to do with the city? Kapoor, who was getting permits from the city was paying 15 K a month to Lago (or company) till it was in the Herald
